Chapter 16; The Vampire Slayer

It was exceptionally hot this spring night. I remember falling asleep beside Lucas and Tyson. Why would it be so hot now? I opened my eyes and gasped. The entire stone room was engulfed in the red sheen of a fire. I shouted

"Tyson! Lucas!"

Both men awoke with a start. Somehow, someway our home was on fire. In the distant rooms we heard the screams of others in distress. Lucas and I sprung into action. We both jumped off of the bed and scrambled to get dressed. We even grabbed our weapons, trouble was here.

"Damien!" Tyson shouted. I had almost forgotten!

Vampires are very prone to catch on fire. Even being around lit candles was dangerous to them. Tyson was trapped on the bed. The fire completely surrounded it. There was nowhere for him to go. I turned to Lucas.

Lucas ran and flew through the air. He tackled Tyson out of the bed and rolled over the flames. Tyson jumped up. His back was on fire. I ran to him with his robe in my hands. Lucas and I quickly patted him down, smothering the flames.

"We have to help the others" Lucas stated. I agreed. The werewolves and I were the only ones in the castle impervious to flames. But first thing was Tyson. He was my top priority. I walked over to him and led him to the window on my back to avoid all the flames.

"This is your stop, I'm afraid" I said to him. Tyson frowned and kissed me. I handed him is small arsenal of weapons and kissed him. Tyson winked his eye at Lucas before jumping out of the window.

I looked down as he gracefully descended from the window to the snow covered ground. It was early spring, the snow had not yet left the land. Once his feet touched the snow top Tyson looked up and gave me a thumbs-up sign. I smiled and turned from the window. Now, I had work to do.

Lucas and I split up to cover more ground. I traveled to the lower levels to awake the implings. They were new to the clan, and so they did not know all of their limitations yet. After leading them safely outside to meet up with Tyson, I ran back into the burning castle to aid Lucas and the other werewolves in bringing the vampires out. I was going to see to it myself Symphony and Drake made it out safe. I ran to Drake's room.

"Somebody help me!" Drake screamed from the inside of his bed chamber. Fire was all over the hallway. I kicked down his door and rushed inside. Drake smiled at me. He was holding his crossbow and pistols.

"You're not going to want to go out that way" I said pointing back to the hall I had just come from.

"So what's the plan?" Drake asked me. I smirked at him. I looked around his room, there was fire all along the floor here too. I then turned my attention to the window. Drake's smile dropped.

"You can't be serious?!" he shouted. I nodded. Taking a running start, I tackled Drake and crashed out of his window. He screamed at first, but once we were in the air his Vampire instincts kicked in and he aided me in landing on my feet.

"Are you okay?" I asked him. Drake shook the broken glass off of him.

"You're insanely crazy" he said, but he nodded. There were no signs of flames on him. I looked over. Lucas was emerging from the castle with a few other werewolves, they were leading out the last of the vampires. All that remained inside was Symphony and Master di Angelo himself. I started running back in.

"Damien, don't!" Tyson shouted. Still running into the castle, I turned around.

"Tyson I'll be okay!" I shouted, "Only two more!"

"Damien, turn back!" Lucas said, "There's-"

I didn't wait for him to finish. I ran at full speed into the castle and run up the spiral steps to the level I knew I'd find Master di Angelo and possibly Symphony as well. The level that housed Master di Angelo's library.

I kicked down the fire covered doors. Inside the library was Master di Angelo and Symphony alright, but they were not alone. The fire was so great that almost everything was covered in it. In the center of the room blocking my families' escape was a woman.

She was tall and thin, with long flowing blonde hair tied back out of her face. She was dressed in gray clothing that reminded me of moonlight for some reason. She turned to me and showed her face. She was absolutely stunning. Breathtaking actually.

"Damien, get out of here!" Symphony shouted over the noise of falling stone and wood. The library was going to crumble from the top, right down in top of us.

"Not without you!" I shouted.

"Damien, go now!" Master di Angelo ordered, "I command you!" I ignored him. The blonde woman turned to me and drew a long silver bow from her back. The bow looked like two ram's horns fused together. Like something out of an ancient Greek textbook. I pulled out my guns and fired at the woman running towards me.

She moved like an angel and dodged each bullet so gracefully, as if she knew where the bullets were going to come from. The woman jumped into the air, however she did not descend back down to the ground, she hovered over it. She was flying. I kept firing.

There were these silver bracelets on her forearms. As my bullets fired she moved her arms around and deflected my bullets back at me. She was faster that I thought. I had to think quickly because she was coming right at me.

"Die bloodsucking demon!" she shouted at me. The woman pulled out three arrows from her quiver behind her and fired them all at me. Two of the arrows pierced right through my coat barley missing my shoulder. The final one got me in my leg. I shouted out.

"Damien!" Symphony shouted. Enraged, Symphony took flight. She charged through the air after the flying blonde woman. The attacker turned with a silver stake in her hand.

"Symphony, no!" Master di Angelo shouted.

Symphony flew with her claws out in front of her. She grabbed onto the woman's arms and the two struggled for dominance. But in the end Symphony's charge was in vain. The blonde woman overpowered her and shoved her stake right into Symphony.

"No!" Master di Angelo shouted at the top on his lungs. Symphony gasped and grasped the silver pole sticking out of her body. The woman let her go and Symphony fell to the floor.

"She's a vampire slayer…" I said in a low tone. I couldn't believe what was happening. Symphony, the most powerful vampire in the clan besides the Master was dead. Master di Angelo was next. I pulled the arrow out of my leg.

"Hey Blondie!" I shouted pulling my guns up. The slayer turned to me and I fired my pistols at random all around to try to and hit her without her being able to block the bullets.

"Master, get out of here!" I shouted while firing. The vampire slayer flew after me. "Get out of here, I'll hold her off!"

"Damien!" Master di Angelo shouted.

"Go!" I shouted. The woman was within hitting range. I tackled her and we both tumbled through the fire. Master di Angelo crashed out of the window. Rolling through the fire hurt like hell. But I had to keep the slayer busy long enough for Master di Angelo to escape.

While we struggled and I lost, I examined my attacker. She was in top physical strength. She had cuts all over her, probably from tangling with Master di Angelo and Symphony before I got there.

But although this woman was a skilled assassin, she was absolutely gorgeous. Green eyes, fair skin, large breasts, the works. And she had this pendant around her neck. It was more of a choker that looked like a trident. A silver trident curved to form around her neck, as well as earrings shaped like a crescent moon.

"Sorry" the blonde beauty said straddling over me, "I got to kill you now" she said. Quickly reaching into her boot, she pulled out another silver stake.

"I see you now, brother. I'm with you now, brother" the slayer said, "I know your suffering and I will save you from damnation. So you may rest in peace" she said. It was almost a chant, a hunter praying for its fallen prey. The motion was so quick I didn't have time to react. One moment the stake was in her hand, the next moment it was not. I looked down.

The silver stake was in my chest. I gasped and shook violently. The pain was excruciating. I did not feel it at first, however once seeing it, I was hit by a huge sensation of pain. I felt my skin ripple around the blade as it went into me. I felt the pain as my body began to set around it. But although I felt death was at any moment, I was still alive.

"What?!" shouted the slayer, "How are you still here?!" she demanded to know. However, talking was not with me. The blow knocked the wind out of me. I began to go into shock. Next thing I knew was incredible. It was a ghost coming back from the dead.

A feminine hand wrapped around the slayer's neck. Talon like claws pierced into her neck and she shouted out. I watched as the blood squirted out of her as her skin popped. The woman was lifted off of me and tossed into the fire. Symphony was standing over me clutching her chest.

"Because he's not a vampire…you stupid bitch" Symphony sighed. I looked in amazement. Sticking out of Symphony's chest was a silver stake. Symphony reached for my hand and hoisted me up. We both ran for our lives and jumped out of the window.
Did you all think I forgot about my Slayer?
